AXIS 225FD

Fixed Dome Network Camera

Professional video surveillance

in tough conditions

The AXIS 225FD Fixed Dome Network Camera is a high-performance
camera for professional surveillance and remote monitoring.
Its discreet, vandal-resistant and outdoor-proof design provides
maximum protection in tough environmental conditions. The
built-in heater and fan protect against low temperatures and help
prevent the glass from misting over. Supported by the industry’s
largest base of video management software, the AXIS 225FD
provides the perfect solution for securing schools, railway stations,
car park buildings and other facilities over the local area network
or across the Internet.

The compact and cost-efficient design enables easy and flexible
installation with tamper-proof mounting on wall or ceiling. It
allows for versatile adjustment by panning, tilting and rotating the
varifocal lens to any camera angle desired.

The built-in Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af) support enables
power to the camera to be delivered via the network, eliminating
the need for a power outlet and reducing installation costs. In
addition, the consolidation of power gives higher reliability if
connected to a central Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). The
AXIS 225FD also offers a comprehensive set of network security
features such as multi-level password protection, IP address
filtering and HTTPS encryption.

The AXIS 225FD features an automatically removable infrared cut
filter, which enables color video in high and low light conditions
as well as IR sensitive black/white video at night. Thanks to the
high-quality lens, progressive scan CCD sensor and advanced image
processing, this camera delivers crisp, clear images even of objects
moving at high speed in the dark.

the indoor surveillance of stores, schools,
prisons, banks and other office buildings.

DISCREET AND COMPACT DESIGN

>

AXIS 216FD-V is a discreet fixed dome network camera
specifically adapted for indoor environments potentially
exposed to vandalism. AXIS 216FD has a lighter, tamper-
resistant casing and is also suitable for indoor video
surveillance. AXIS 216FD network cameras are easy to install,

RELIABLE, DISCREET SURVEILLANCE

AXIS 216FD-V is a vandal-resistant fixed dome network camera
designed for indoor use. Its metal base and durable transparent
cover provide excellent protection against vandalism – while
offering the same superior camera performance as AXIS
216FD.

AXIS 216FD network cameras have a discreet and compact
fixed dome design that make them the perfect choice for
indoor environments where a low camera profile is an
important factor – such as stores, banks, schools and prisons.

Powerful video
and event management

With AXIS 216FD network cameras, video can be accessed
at any time, from any computer anywhere. AXIS 216FD
network cameras also allow for powerful event management
with multi-window motion detection, audio detection and
I/O (input/output) for connecting devices such as external
relays and sensors to activate lights or open/close doors.
Pre- and post-image alarm buffering secures images just
before and after an alarm. AXIS 216FD network cameras
are supported by AXIS Camera Station video management
software, which offers remote video monitoring, recording
and playback.

OPEN PROGRAMMING INTERFACE FOR

CUSTOMIZED APPLICATIONS

AXIS 216FD network cameras include the industry-standard
Axis Application Programming Interface, AXIS VAPIX™ API,
which facilitates the development of customized software
solutions. It also ensures that users benefit from the market’s
widest range of third-party applications, available via Axis
Application Development Partners.

EASY INSTALLATION

AXIS 216FD network cameras are quick and easy

to install. They allow flexible mounting on wall,

hard or drop ceiling and versatile adjustment by panning,
tilting and rotating the varifocal lens to any camera angle.
Smoked transparent covers and drop ceiling mount kit are
options for further discretion.

Superior image quality

Thanks to the high-quality progressive scan sensor and
advanced image processing, AXIS 216FD network cameras
deliver crisp and clear images even in low-light conditions.

SIMULTANEOUS MOTION JPEG AND MPEG-4

AXIS 216FD network cameras offer simultaneous Motion
JPEG and MPEG-4. Video streams can be optimized for image
quality and bandwidth efficiency by configuration of frame
rate, resolution, compression level and format – offering up to
30 frames per second in VGA resolution.

POWER OVER ETHERNET

Power over Ethernet allows power to be delivered to
the AXIS 216FD network cameras via the network,
reducing cabling requirements and installation
costs. This also means that continuous
power can be guaranteed by the
use of a UPS (Uninterruptible
Power Supply).

TWO-WAY audio support

The audio support includes the option of using the built-in
microphone or connecting external speakers and microphones.
This enables remote users to listen in on an area and
communicate instructions, orders or requests to visitors or
intruders. Audio can be disabled when inappropriate.

Advanced security
and network management

AXIS 216FD network cameras are supported by AXIS Camera
Management, which offers centralized management of
AXIS 216FD and other Axis network video devices. It locates
and shows connection status, sets IP addresses, configures
single or multiple units and manages firmware upgrades
and user access rights. AXIS 216FD network cameras offer
a comprehensive set of network security features, such as
multi-level password protection, IP address filtering and
HTTPS encryption.

AXIS 216FD network cameras support Quality of Service
(QoS), which enables reservation of network capacity and
prioritization of mission-critical surveillance in a QoS-aware
network. Support for IPv6 is included in addition to the
standard IP protocol version 4, as insurance against the
growing shortage of IPv4 addresses.

INStAllAtIoNS

AXIS 233D is a network dome camera for demanding security
installations. Its wide range of features including progressive
scan, 35x zoom, fast and precise pan/tilt mechanics and
wide dynamic range ensure superb performance and superior
image quality. AXIS 233D is designed for use in challenging
surveillance applications - such as airports, stadiums, casinos
and ports - where the ability to follow moving objects from a
long distance and see great detail is crucial.

PoWeRfUl 35X zoom

With the powerful 35x optical and 12x digital zoom, AXIS 233D
can zoom in on small and distant objects, allowing for example
license plates to be clearly identified from a distance of 160 m
(525 ft). Whether zoomed out or in full 35x zoom position,
images are crisp, clear, and rich in color and detail.

1x zoom
35x zoom
AReA zoom

AXIS 233D can simply and quickly pan, tilt and zoom to
any desired part of a monitored scene. Mark an area and
AXIS 233D will immediately zoom in to show a detailed view
of that area.

SUPeRIoR ImAge QUAlIty

PRogReSSIVe SCAN

With traditional interlaced scanning NTSC/PAL techniques,
every image consists of two frames that are captured after
each other and merged together. This results in degraded
quality when freezing the image in recorded video. AXIS 233D
instead uses progressive scan, capturing the full image at the
same moment, which provides non-distorted, superior quality
images with drastically reduced motion blur.

ELECTRoNIC IMAgE STAbILIzER (EIS)

Electronic image stabilizer (EIS) reduces the effect of vibration
caused by traffic or wind, giving sharper images. This feature is
especially useful when AXIS 233D is installed in places subject
to shaking or vibration, such as on a pole or close to a highway
with heavy traffic.

AXIS 233D Conventional camera

WIDe DyNAmIC RANge (WDR)

AXIS 233D has 128x wide dynamic range, maintaining contrast
to ensure high-quality video and detailed images even in
very complex lighting conditions, such as bright sun, sharp
backlight or shaded areas.

AXIS 233D Conventional camera

SImUltANeoUS mPeg-4 AND motIoN JPeg

AXIS 233D offers simultaneous MPEg-4 and Motion JPEg.
Video streams can be optimized for image quality and bandwidth
efficiency by configuration of frame rate, resolution,
compression level and format – offering up to 30 frames per
second in 4CIF resolution in all compressions.

eXCePtIoNAl PAN/tIlt
PeRfoRmANCe

With a maximum speed of 450º/second, and high precision
low speed movement at 0.05º/second, AXIS 233D can follow a
walking person at a distance of 400 m (1300 ft) and pan/tilt to
any preset in less than 1.5 seconds. The freeze function holds
the image while moving between presets, to make it easier to
work with. The E-flip functionality electronically inverts the
image 180º when following an object moving under the dome.

tWo-WAy AUDIo SUPPoRt

With the ability to connect to external speakers and microphones,
AXIS 233D enables remote users not only to view, but
also listen in on an area and communicate orders or requests
to visitors or intruders.

AND NetWoRk mANAgemeNt

AXIS 233D is supported by AXIS Camera Management, which
offers centralized management of AXIS 233D and other Axis
network video devices. It locates and shows connection
status, sets IP addresses, configures single or multiple units
and manages firmware upgrades and user access
AXIS 233D Network Dome Camera offers a comprehensive
set of network security features, such as IP address filtering,
HTTPS encryption and IEEE 802.1X authentication.

AXIS 233D supports Quality of Service (QoS), which enables
reservation of network capacity and prioritization of missioncritical
surveillance in a QoS-aware network. Support for IPv6
is included in addition to the standard IP protocol version 4, as
insurance against the growing shortage of IPv4 addresses.

PoWeRfUl VIDeo
AND eVeNt mANAgemeNt

With Axis network cameras, video can be accessed at any time,
from any computer anywhere. AXIS 233D allows for powerful
event management with multi-window motion detection, and

The AXIS 221 Day & Night Network Camera is a high performance
camera for professional surveillance and remote monitoring.
AXIS 221 is designed to meet demanding security installations
under all light conditions and is supported by the industry’s largest
base of application software for video and alarm management.

Thanks to the high-quality Pentax lens and progressive scan CCD
(non-interlaced) image sensor, this camera delivers crisp, clear images
even of objects moving at high speed in the dark. The AXIS 221
features a removable infrared cut filter, which enables color video
in high and low light conditions as well as IR sensitive black/white
video at night.

The integrated Power over Ethernet option eliminates the need
for a power outlet, as power is supplied to the camera via the
network cable, and a steady power stream can be guaranteed
with a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). Furthermore, the
unique combination of simultaneous Motion JPEG and MPEG-4
streams allows systems to be optimized for both image quality and
bandwidth-efficiency. Additionally, the product offers a complete
set of security features such as multi-level password protection,
IP address filtering and HTTPS encryption. The support for HTTPS
provides a secure channel between camera and application and
enables authentication of the video source.

. IR sensitivity for high quality images in low
light conditions

. Progressive Scan provides full resolution

Progressive Scan, all lines are
captured at the same time

Interlaced, 20 ms difference between
odd and even lines

Light as perceived by the human eye ranges between wavelengths of ~400 -700 nm.
Infrared light exists in nature at higher wavelengths, which can not be perceived by
the human eye. IR light is filtered away in the camera by an IR cut filter in order to
render a ”human image”, AXIS 221 can thus produce high quality b/w pictures by
removing the IR cut filter when light conditions are too dark to render colors.

Progressive scan is used instead of the interlaced method found in analog CCTV
(PAL/NTSC) cameras. With progressive scan all pixels (lines) are captured at the
same time, enabling moving images to be presented without distortion.

AXIS 215 PTZ is a day and night camera that offers pan/tilt/
zoom control over IP networks. AXIS 215 PTZ has a compact,
tamper-proof design providing protection against tampering
as all moving parts are inside the casing. This versatile camera
is the perfect choice for indoor environments such as shops,
receptions, banks and other facilities, where you need both
an overview and the possibility to zoom in for detailed
inspections.

AdVANCed PTZ CoNTrol

AXIS 215 PTZ enables advanced remote monitoring with pan,
tilt and zoom through operator control over the IP network.
With high speed and high precision movement between presets,
AXIS 215 PTZ can follow a person at distance or quickly pan/
tilt to a preset postition. A Joystick can be used to control the
PTZ movements.

AuTo-flIP

Traditional PTZ cameras have a mechanical stop that prevents
the cameras’ circular movement making it impossible to follow
a person walking in a full circle around the camera. Thanks to
the Auto-flip functionality developed by Axis, AXIS 215 PTZ
can instantly flip the camera head 180 degrees and continue
to pan beyond its zero point. The camera can then continue to
follow a passing person or object, regardless of the direction.

e-flIP

When a person passes below the camera, the image will be
upside-down after 90 degrees tilt. With other PTZ camera
models, the operator must rotate the image 180 degrees but
with the E-flip functionality, AXIS 215 PTZ can automatically
flip the image electronically 180 degrees, and continue to
follow the person in the correct orientation, without delay.

48X mAgNIfICATIoN

The total magnification capacity of 48x increases the monitoring
options with the ability to show a detailed and precise view of
the zoomed in area.

dAy & NIghT fuNCTIoNAlITy

With automatic day/night functionality, light sensitive
CCD and removable IR filter, this camera
provides perfect color images when
there is sufficient light, and high
quality black/white video in dark
conditions.

AudIo deTeCTIoN AlArm

The two-way audio support allows remote users not only to
view but also listen in on an area, picking up unusual sounds
from suspicious activity and communicating with visitors or
intruders. Axis’ audio enabled video products are capable of
sending an alarm at a configurable audio detection level. The
camera can be redirected to fixed, preset positions when there
is an alarm.

Thanks to its 1.3 megapixel resolution, AXIS 211M delivers
crisp and clear images, perfect for the identification of
objects and persons.

Progressive scan technology provides full resolution images
of moving objects, with no distortion.

Simultaneous Motion JPEG and MPEG-4 video streams in full
megapixel resolution allow for optimization both on image
quality and bandwidth efficiency.

Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af) supplies power to the
camera via the network, which eliminates the need for power
cables and reduces installation costs.

The two-way audio support allows remote users to listen in
on an area and communicate with visitors or intruders.

ProGrESSIvE SCAN

With traditional interlaced scanning NTSC/PAL techniques,
every image consists of two frames that are captured after
each other and merged together. This results in degraded
quality when freezing the image. AXIS 211M instead uses
progressive scan, capturing the full image at the same moment,
which provides non-distorted, superior quality images with
drastically reduced motion blur.

AXIS 211M offers simultaneous Motion JPEG and MPEG-4 video
streams in full 1.3 megapixel resolution. These streams can
be optimized for image quality and bandwidth efficiency, by
configuring the frame rate, resolution, compression level and
format – offering up to 12 frames per second in full 1280x1024
resolution and 30 frames per second in 800x600 resolution
(partial scan).

power over eTherNeT

Equipped with Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, AXIS 211M
is capable of using the same cable for both power and video,
making installation quick and easy.
The consolidation of power enables the use of a central
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), adding resilience to the
video surveillance system.

Two-wAy AudIo SupporT

The two-way audio support includes the options of using the
built-in microphone or an external audio capturing device,
and connecting external speakers.
This enables remote users to listen in on an area and
to communicate with visitors or intruders. Axis’ audio
enabled video products are capable of sending an alarm at
a configurable audio detection level. Audio can be disabled
when inappropriate.

significantly larger overview. The inner rectangle below shows
the area covered by an analog high-resolution camera. With
the same number of pixels per area, the full 1280x1024
resolution provided by AXIS 211M - the outer rectangle below

MPEG-4 network cameras

The AXIS 207 Network Cameras offer compact and cost-effective
solutions for indoor surveillance and remote monitoring. The AXIS
207 family provides the best image quality in its class, with excellent
performance even in low light conditions. It offers VGA resolution with
AXIS 207/207W, and if greater detail or wider field of view is required,
Megapixel resolution with AXIS 207MW.

The AXIS 207 Network Cameras also provide the best bandwidth
efficiency, thanks to its MPEG-4 implementation that includes motion
estimation. Simultaneous MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG streams allow
systems to be optimized for both image quality and bandwidth. The
built-in microphone enables remote users to not only view, but also
listen in on an area and increase the monitoring options.

Thanks to the built-in Web server, the AXIS 207 Network Cameras can
be monitored from a standard browser on a Windows computer or a
Macintosh. In addition to the included AXIS IP Utility tool for Windows,
the cameras support both UPnP and Bonjour, for easy location on the
network in a Windows or Macintosh environment.

Video can be recorded directly from the Web interface or via the
included video management software. Video can also be uploaded over
FTP, email or HTTP when the camera detects motion or is triggered by
a sensor connected to the alarm input.

surveillance with 24x the resolution of
analog surveillance cameras.
Ultra-compact design incorporates four
2 megapixel sensors for full 180° or
360° coverage.
Unique SurroundVideo® 8-megapixel network cameras deliver full motion 180° or 360° panoramas.
Compact 6” dome design incorporates four 2 megapixel sensors, dramatically reducing total
installation cost.
HIGH RESOLUTION & FULL MOTION
AV8180 and AV8360 network cameras leverage proprietary massively-parallel image processing
technologies SurroundVideo® and MegaVideo® and deliver full motion, progressive scan panoramic video
over four 1600x1200 channels at 22 fps.
COST EFFICIENCY
High resolution and crystal clear imagery allow a single SurroundVideo® camera to replace up to 24
analog cameras, substantially reducing the total cost of installation. Compact 6” dome has a single external
cable that carries both power and video using Power-over-Ethernet (POE) technology.
NO- MOVING-PARTS INSTANTENEOUS 180° OR 360° PAN TILT ZOOM (PTZ)
Super high resolution of AV8360 and AV8180 allows efficient no-moving-parts zoom windows to be
instantly re-positioned across the entire panorama. These zoom windows are delivered as separate video
streams simultaneously with the complete full field of view panoramic video, thus eliminating the trade-off
between magnification and area coverage as well as avoiding costly and unreliable electro-mechanical
PTZ.
FORENSIC ZOOMING
Playback of high-resolution digital archives allows “zoom-after-event” on any object in the field of view,
eliminating the need for manned installations.
EFFICIENT BANDWIDTH MANAGEMENT
Efficient bandwidth utilization is supported via user-selectable regions of interest (ROI). The reduction of
overall storage and bandwidth requirements may be achieved by selecting up to 4 regions of interest with
independent control of resolution and compression quality for each of the selected regions.
